Best Cafes in Johor Bahru 2026: 14 Cafes With Hours and Addresses
2026-10-31 · Last updated 2026-10-31 · 6 min read
Johor Bahru's cafes are not downtown. The old-town row along Jalan Tan Hiok Nee and Jalan Dhoby holds a few, but most of the list sits north and east of the causeway in three residential-commercial belts: Taman Melodies, Taman Mount Austin, and the strip around Taman Pelangi and Taman Sri Tebrau. Anyone crossing from Singapore for a day needs to pick a belt, not a street.
This guide is the Johor Bahru subset of the JomYumcha directory: 14 cafes with a full address, a published week, and at least one recorded property.
Last updated: 31 October 2026.
How this list was built
The JomYumcha directory holds 41 approved cafes in Johor on 31 October 2026, 33 of them with a Johor Bahru address and 37 carrying at least three stored facts. This guide takes the 14 Johor Bahru records with the most recorded views and prints what they hold: street address, opening times by day, and amenity tags.
Every opening time below is stored in the directory for that cafe and summarised by day. Every tag — halal certified, Muslim friendly, parking available, late night — is a row the directory holds. Where a listing publishes a written description, that note is attributed to the listing rather than presented as a review, and where the record has nothing beyond an address and a week, the guide says only that.
The directory stores no ratings and these records carry no dish prices, so no ranking of taste or signature dish appears here.
Old town: Tan Hiok Nee and Dhoby
Naug Cafe & Desserts
📍 50A, Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80300 Johor Bahru · 🕐 daily, 11am–11pm
Naug is on Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, the heritage row, open 11am to 11pm every day with Muslim friendly and air-conditioned tags. The listing's own note says it sits behind a plant store — useful if you walk past the frontage looking for a doorway.
Mollie Makes
📍 30, Jalan Dhoby, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru · 🕐 daily, 11am–8pm
Typed as a dessert place rather than a cafe, Mollie Makes runs 11am to 8pm daily on Jalan Dhoby. It holds three photos, two of them venue shots, and carries no amenity tags.
Taman Melodies: Jalan Balau, Beringin and Chengai
Le Pain Cafe
📍 13, Jalan Beringin, Taman Kebun Teh, 80250 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Tue–Sun 9am–10pm, closed Monday
Le Pain opens at 9am and runs to 10pm from Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday off, on Jalan Beringin. It holds three photos, two of them venue shots, and carries no amenity tags — the address, hours and images are the record.
OTTO cafe
📍 81, Jalan Chengai, Taman Melodies, 80250 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Mon–Thu and Sun 10am–6pm, Fri–Sat 9am–6pm
OTTO closes at 6pm every day, opening an hour earlier at the weekend, and is tagged LGBTQ+ friendly with parking available. Its listing note reads simply as brunch, lunch and specialty coffee — a daytime room, not an evening one.
Linn Cafe
📍 27, Jalan Balau, Taman Melodies, 80250 Johor Bahru · 🕐 daily, 10am–9pm
Linn keeps one of the steadier weeks in this belt: 10am to 9pm, seven days, with one venue photo stored. Jalan Balau is shared with Carfeidian below, so two of the picks here are on the same short road.
Carfeidian
📍 27, Jalan Balau, Taman Melodies, 80250 Johor Bahru · 🕐 daily, 10am–10pm
Carfeidian is next door to Linn and closes an hour later, at 10pm daily. Its listing note describes it as part cafe and part car workshop, which is the most specific thing any record in this belt says about the room. Outdoor seating and wheelchair access are stored tags.
Date Cafe
📍 117, Jalan Beringin, Taman Melodies, 80250 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Mon–Thu 12pm–7pm, Fri–Sun 12pm–9pm
Date Cafe opens at noon and splits its close: 7pm Monday to Thursday, 9pm from Friday to Sunday. Muslim friendly and air conditioned are the tags; it is the latest-starting room in Taman Melodies.
Mount Austin and Austin Heights
Rosta Lab
📍 No. 33, 5, Jalan Utama, Kampung Melayu Majidee, 81100 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Mon and Wed–Thu and Sat–Sun 2pm–12am, Fri 3pm–2am, closed Tuesday
Rosta Lab is the most-viewed Johor Bahru record in the directory and the latest room on this page: 2pm to midnight on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 3pm to 2am on Friday, closed Tuesday. It is tagged late night.
Zero Percent
📍 17-01, 7/7, Persiaran Austin Heights, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Mon–Wed and Fri–Sun 2pm–10pm, closed Thursday
Zero Percent is an afternoon-to-evening room, 2pm to 10pm, with Thursday off, on Persiaran Austin Heights. Late night is the one stored tag. Note the unit number: it is a first-floor lot, so look up rather than along the shop row.
Dachshund & Friends
📍 1-01, 5, Jalan Austin Heights 7, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Mon–Tue and Thu–Sun 12pm–6pm, closed Wednesday
Dachshund & Friends keeps the shortest day in Mount Austin — noon to 6pm, closed Wednesday — and is tagged LGBTQ+ friendly with parking available. The name suggests the theme; the record stores no pet-access tag, so it is not listed here as a pet cafe.
Kirin Coffee
📍 Unit #G-03, Austin 18, Jalan Austin Perdana 3, Taman Austin Perdana, 81100 Johor Bahru · 🕐 daily, 11am–11pm
Kirin runs 11am to 11pm every day inside the Austin 18 block, tagged halal certified and air conditioned. Its listing note calls it a two-storey specialty coffee and signature-drinks cafe.
Pelangi, Sri Tebrau and Abad
Rowan & Betty Cafe
📍 27-02, Jln Sri Pelangi 3, Taman Pelangi, 80400 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Mon–Thu and Sun 10am–6pm, Fri–Sat 10am–10pm
Rowan & Betty is tagged as a brunch spot and runs 10am to 6pm on Monday to Thursday and Sunday, extending to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. It is a second-floor lot on Jalan Sri Pelangi 3.
Half Half Coffee
📍 104, Jalan Keris, Taman Sri Tebrau, 80050 Johor Bahru · 🕐 daily, 10am–7pm
Half Half keeps a plain week — 10am to 7pm, seven days — on Jalan Keris in Taman Sri Tebrau, with no amenity tags stored.
Shuu Cafe
📍 203, Jalan Wijaya, Taman Abad, 80250 Johor Bahru · 🕐 Mon and Wed–Sun 10am–6pm, closed Tuesday
Shuu closes at 6pm from Monday and Wednesday to Sunday, with Tuesday off. Muslim friendly and wheelchair accessible are stored, and its listing note describes a Muslim-owned bakery-and-cafe with house-made choux and brunch.
Before you go
Johor Bahru's cafe hours run earlier than the city's reputation suggests. Six of the 14 listings close at 7pm or before on at least one day, and only three — Rosta Lab, Naug and Kirin — stay open to 11pm or later, so a late coffee after the causeway queue is a short list rather than a browse.
What the directory does not hold for these cafes: ratings, dish prices, and menus. Taman Melodies and the road next to it account for five of these listings within walking distance, which makes it the practical belt if you are picking by foot rather than by car.
